MoonDAO to Send a Member of its DAO to Outer Space, DAO Funding Ends Today.
Decentralising space travel lies at the core of MoonDAO’s 2022 maiden space mission and with $Mooney, its governance token, currently valued at 1595.05 ETH (5,319,685 USD ), it has recently been ranked as the fourth-highest funded DAO on JuiceBox, the Ethereum-based crowdfunding platform used by ConstitutionalDAO two months ago.
MoonDAO is set to make history as the first DAO to send a DAO member to outer space in what can be described as a bid to decentralise the space industry. The need to reorient space travel towards the brave new world powered by blockchain technology is informed by MoonDao’s anti-monopoly stance. It also shines a spotlight on the growing potential of DAOs to become the new LLCs, corporations, crowd funders, etc.
In addition to being a tactical move to leverage the growing low orbit economy(LOE)through a range of fees charged by blue-chip space companies such as Space X, Blue Origin, Virgin Galactic — its community funded mission is hailed as “one small step for a DAO, one giant leap for DAO-kind’’.
“MoonDAO wants to help to create a world where anyone can travel to space regardless of their financial situation. We hope that this can be a meaningful and inspirational first step in decentralising space exploration”, MoonDAO’s co-founder Pablo Moncada-Larroti recently told POSTR.
“So far in history, space exploration has been gated to the rest of the world — accessible to only the privileged. MoonDAO changes this for the first time in history”, Pablo added.
MOONDAO IS ANTI-SPACE MONOPOLY
With only four positions away from constitutionalDAO on JuiceBox, it’s crystal clear that MoonDAO has continued to receive a huge amount of support from buyers of $Mooney, its native token. MoonDAO’s all the more important mission of onboarding us to an era of decentralised space travel is a growing campaign against space monopoly.
In 2022, the reality of space travel is that it is still the exclusive preserve of the ultra-rich who might have found a new adventure on which to splurge money. Meanwhile, there are also a handful of blue-chip space companies helped by the mainstream media and PR agencies to make a trend out of space tourism. But with MoonDAO posturing as a space collective chances are that SpaceDAOs are better suited to shape the future of space travel.
“Space travel is the game of the rich guys as space research and exploration are monopolized by powerful companies. In web 3, we think traveling to the space should no longer be the exclusive preserve of the rich; it should be everyone’s possible reality”, MoonDAO’‘s Discord moderator and former ConstitutionalDAO member Louis Yip was quoted as saying.
“We want to fund space research and exploration, put a MoonDAO colony on the moon and blasting off to the solar system a dream come true for everyone”, Louis added.
MOONDAO WILL OPERATE AS AN INCLUSIVE DAO COMMUNITY.
Bearing true allegiance to the true nature of a DAO, a disclaimer was recently issued by MoonDAO’s team to the effect that it will run as a free and all-inclusive organisation once it reaches maturity. However, the doxxed team had declared its intention to guide it during its formative phase as collaborators and not co-owners or leaders.
By adopting a bottom-up approach as it matures, MoonDAO is intent on holding a community vote to decide such roles as moon-settlers, extraterrestrials, cosmonauts, and astronauts. But its main policy is to get rid of hierarchies or “in-groups” upon the DAO’s maturity.
“In MoonDAOs very early life, we will help guide the DAO until it can find its feet and walk on its own. As such, in the beginning, we will have to centrally grow the MoonDAO team but will do so while filtering strongly for individuals who are not status/bureaucracy-oriented and who are working on dedicated channels” MoonDAO’s co-founder Kori Rogers recently told POSTR.
“Everyone can contribute to our efforts by buying our governance token to fund our treasury, or lend us their brainpower in building the world’s first decentralized public space program” Kori added.
